The final qualifying leg of the FEI Dressage World Cup™ WEL goes to World Number One Justin Verboomen and Zonik Plus. The pair danced to victory in Hertogenbosch with a score of 89.205%. In 2025 alone, the Belgian pair have won nine of the 13 international classes they entered. After conquering the European Championships with an average score of 82.37%, they went on to capture the World Cup stage in Lyon, finishing ahead of established stars Becky Moody (Great Britain) and Larissa Pauluis (Belgium).
Spectators at Lyon this week watched in awe as the dark bay stallion Zonic Plus floated through the Grand Prix freestyle, his energy contained yet electric, his rider almost invisible in the saddle. Their 87.07% earned a standing ovation—and cemented Verboomen’s place as dressage’s newest revelation.
“We had our best performance together yesterday,” he said after Friday’s win. “Today was harder—the crowd, the heat—but I just prayed he would stay connected to me.”
