Nashville Star is the first offspring of Desperados FRH, recently included in the WBFSH Top 10, licensed by the KWPN. This international Grand Prix stallion was successful at two Olympic Games (London and Rio de Janeiro) under his rider Kristina Bröring-Sprehe.
Nashville Star is a strong moving, complete stallion by Kristina Bröring-Sprehe’s Olympic horse Desperados FRH. At the KWPN Stallion Show, Nashville Star was one of the showstoppers. In the KWPN ability test, the stallion bred by L. Martens & Daughters from Zuidveen lived up to the high expectations. With 87.5 points he became champion in the ability test.
Chairman of the stallion selection committee, Bert Rutten, reports: “He is a chic, blood-influenced stallion. He is light-footed, always thinks ahead, likes to work, has a lot of go and a very pleasant character”. Rutten said the following about his walk: “the walk has a lot of space, is always rhythmic and the stallion walks well. In our breeding, the step is one of the focal points and Nashville Star is a good example to take.” Nashville Star a 9.5 for the walk and an 8.5 for the canter and trot In his commentary on the trot and canter, Rutten particularly praised the use of the hind leg, nice front leg technique and the balance in the transitions.His final scores were as follows : Relaxation 85, posture & balance 85, rideability & attitude 90, predisposition as a dressage horse 85. With an average of 87.5, Nashville Star can call himself the winner of the KWPN predisposition test.

Nashville Star comes from the mare Ezrasijgje, the well-known Sijgje line. She descends from the Grand Prix and licensing stallion Westpoint, who was successful under Kirsten Beckers. Nashville Star’s granddam is the performance mare Rasijgje, who descends from the GP stallion Montecristo. She herself was active in the ZZ difficulty. She also produced the Grand Prix horse Walskoning (by Jazz) and the ZZ light horse Barleduc (by Rubin Royal). Nashville Star’s maternal line follows the preferential stallion Flemmingh. His daughter, the Prestatie mare Lesijgje, has produced several Z horses in combination with Metall and Havidoff.
Bert Rutten (KWPN): “The step (walk) is one of the focal points in our breeding policy. We are very happy to be able to add a stallion to our stud with such a good walk”.
Nashville appointed for KWPN performance test
On the first day of the second round viewing for dressage horses at the KWPN Stallion Show, Nashville was selected for the performance test. Nashville is a strong moving, complete stallion by Kristina Bröring-Sprehe’s Olympic horse Desperados FRH. With his impressive performance he was one of the trendsetters of the inspection. The chic black stallion was already striking as a foal and became one of the price-toppers of the Elite Foal Auction Borculo.
Bert Rutten, chairman of the stallion selection committee, praised Nashville: “It is a chic, blood-made stallion. In all the selections he showed a lot of power and he can easily shorten and lengthen his stride. He moves light-footed and also on the lunge he showed a lot of balance.”
Nashville was bred by L. Martens & dochters of Zuidveen. His sire is the Grand Prix stallion Desperados FRH (by De Niro). Under his rider Kristina Bröring-Sprehe, he won the German national title at Grand Prix level several times, was European and World Champion with the German team, and achieved several individual medals. The highlight of his sporting career was his participation in two Olympic Games. In London the pair won team silver and four years later in Rio de Janeiro they won team gold and individual bronze. Also as a sire Desperados is influential. At the HorseTelex dressage ranking Desperados is in fourth place.
The voorlopig keur mare Ezrasijgje, from the well-known Sijgje line, is Nashville’s dam. She is by the Grand Prix and Keur stallion Westpoint. Nashville’s grandmother is the preferent and prestatie mare Rasijgje who descends from the GP stallion Montecristo. She was active at ZZ-Zwaar level. In addition, she produced the ZT horse Walskoning (Aat van Essen) by Jazz.
