2005 Brown 1.67m
Lic: KWPN
Chello III is a beautiful, conformationally-correct stallion with three good gaits. He shows a great attitude and jumps each fence with excellent technique and suppleness.
As a 3-year-old, Chello III did his stallion performance test and received a good report. Chello III was selected for the National Championship for 7-yr. under his rider John Popeley. Chello III took 12th and was the highest placing KWPN stallion. As a 5-year-old, he was 3rd at the National Championships and was Champion of the Stallion Competition 1.20m Class. In Lanaken, he had a double clear round, therefore, he was selected for the finals of the World Championships for 5-year-olds.
Chello III’s oldest offspring are 6-year-old’s now and he already has one approved son: Felton VDL.
His sire, Contender, is a living legend in breeding for jumping, as well as dressage horses. Among his offspring are Checkmate and Montender. Grandsire Sandro – son of Sacramento Song xx – jumped at the highest level. Further in the pedigree are the famous foundation stallions, Cor de la Bryere and Ramiro.
The mother line is the famous Holsteiner line 318D2. From this line descend many international jumpers and approved stallions, including Corofino I and II, Coriano, Crawford and Diarado. Chello III’s great grandam, Golda, anchors the base of all these stallions.
From the owner of Chello III’s website:
Strong points:
Genetics, movement and scope.
Comment on offspring:
Chello III received a good foal report producing foals with type, appearance and good movements, from the KWPN assessments.
Offspring results:
Daughter Heldita placed 7th in the final of the Provincial Foal show in Tolbert.
From his first offspring, son Evergreen VDL was selected for the Stallion Test. In 2012, his offspring made their mark at the KWPN Stallions Approvals with four of his sons advancing to the second round.
Mares to use with this stallion:
Chello will genuinely suit a very wide range of mares, and is an improver at all times – from heavy Darco type mares, through to lighter blood mares. If your mare lacks movement, scope, looks or has “indeterminate” breeding, Chello will always make a foal that is better than the mare.
